From June 2021 until June 2022, there was 188 additional cases above the yearly average for Acute Myocarditis. Using the rate of 72%, there was around 135 additional cases in those aged under 40 against the yearly average.
As a ratio, for each positive covid case associated with Acute Myocarditis, 13 cases of Acute Myocarditis occurred in under 40’s from ‘unknown causes’.

In an Emergency Department setting, the evidence may suggest that for those under 40, the risk of both Acute Myocarditis and Myocarditis from ‘unknown causes’ far exceeds the associated risk from covid 19 infection.
